Jesus. The man who radically shifted everything 2000 years ago. The man who confused the religious leaders of his day and yet spoke in ways that even the youngest of listeners could understand. One of his most famous moments is when he shared the greatest commandments — to love God and to love people, summarizing all of the Old Testament on these two commands (Matthew 22:34-40). Then, when Jesus died on the cross and rose again, everything changed. Instead of staying on earth, Jesus left, promising His Spirit. But before he left, he charged his disciples with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
The mission of the church, should she choose to accept it or not, is to fulfill the Great Commission by living out the greatest commandments.
Love God.
Love people.
Make disciples.
