Romans 3:23 says, "we all fall short of the glory of God" and Romans 6:23 paints the picture that "the wages of sin is death," (If we stop right there, that leaves us feeling pretty hopeless) "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

So what's this gift? How do you get it?

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from  yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:8-10
If it's a free gift, how do I receive it?

It's about saying "YES!" to Jesus. The Creator of the universe wants to walk in a relationship with you.While we like to say that's it's as easy as the ABC's, we'd also say that saying "YES!" to Jesus is about saying one big "YES!" followed by lots of littles "yeses" in the days to come. But this is about the beginning, so to start things off, we'd recommend that you...

Admit that you're a sinner
  • Romans 3:23 says, "we all fall short of the glory of God"

Believe that Jesus died on the cross for you
  • Romans 10:9 says, "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
  • John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Commit your life to following Jesus
  • Romans 12:2 says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Jesus Christ is our living hope! God sent His Son so that we could be brought into relationship with Him. Like in all relationships, we have to ask questions and discover aspects for ourselves — and God welcomes this. Trust that He will lead and guide you! It's the most important decision you will ever make and will change your life forever!
