This is an opportunity for us to overflow with love for God and put our love for people into action. We’re thrilled to continue our strategic partnership by offering Reading Buddies, a Treat Team, Lego Coaches, and hosting an October Clothes for Crestview collection during the school year!
Reading Buddies
Statistics show that ⅔ of students who cannot read proficiently by the end of fourth grade will end up in jail or on welfare. At Crestview, 55% of students are not at grade level according to 2023 state test results. Reading Buddies spend an hour a week reading with Crestview students with a heart to come alongside early readers and help them build the skills they need to become proficient readers. Reading Buddies have the opportunity to show Christ’s love as they build relationships and help students reach their academic goals.

KHUSA Mentors
Mentors meet with one student for one hour a week either before school or during the school day. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a life coach or counselor. We are looking for caring, consistent adults willing to build a relationship with a child while playing sports or games, reading books, or doing crafts. Mentors have the opportunity to show the faithful love of Christ to a child who would benefit from having another supportive adult in their lives. By giving an hour a week, mentors are making a seemingly small investment that yields big dividends in the life of a student. Those interested in mentoring must complete an application and training program.

Crestview Treat Team
Our goal at Crestview is to overflow with the love of Christ so much that they can't help but wonder why we do what we do. We are seeking to reach that goal by making or bringing treats for teachers once a month to show our ongoing support and appreciation. Monday or Tuesday are the best days to bring treats—you can pick a day that works best with your schedule. Let Lori Wong ([email protected]) know what day you plan to drop off. There are approximately 50 staff members at Crestview. A few staff members are gluten and dairy-free. If you can bring a little something gluten- and dairy-free, it would make their day.
